White Princess Philodendron (Philodendron erubescens 'White Princess')

White Princess Philodendron is a striking houseplant that brings crisp, high-contrast variegation to indoor spaces. It is a great choice when you want a plant that feels collected and modern, with each leaf showing its own mix of green and clean white patterning. With bright, indirect light and steady watering after partial dry-down, it grows more vigorously and keeps stronger variegation over time. If you want a statement philodendron that feels fresh, tailored, and visually bold, White Princess Philodendron delivers.

Distinctive Features

This cultivar is prized for glossy green leaves accented by white variegation that can appear as speckling, marbling, or larger sectoral patches, giving every leaf a one-of-a-kind look. Stems and petioles often show pink to red tones, adding another layer of contrast against the white and green foliage. It typically grows as a climbing aroid, and providing a moss pole can encourage a more upright form and larger leaves as it matures. Because variegation can vary from leaf to leaf, consistent bright indirect light helps support the best balance of color and growth.

Growing Conditions

  • Sun: Bright, indirect light is ideal to support variegation, and avoid harsh direct sun that can scorch white areas.
  • Soil: Airy, well-drained aroid mix that holds some moisture but never stays soggy.
  • Water: Water when the top 1 to 2 inches of soil dry, and do not let the pot sit in water.
  • Humidity: Moderate to higher humidity supports best growth and leaf quality, with average home humidity acceptable.
  • Growth Habit: Climbing vine that benefits from a moss pole for a fuller vertical display.

Ideal Uses

  • Focal Point: Showcase in bright, indirect light where crisp white variegation can stand out as a bold accent.
  • Plant Stands: Place at eye level so leaf patterning and stem color can be appreciated up close.
  • Climbing Display: Train on a moss pole to create a taller statement plant with larger foliage.
  • Collector Displays: Pair with darker green and velvety aroids to highlight contrast in color and finish.

Low Maintenance Care

  • Watering: Keep evenly moist but not wet, allowing a partial dry-down between waterings.
  • Support: Provide a moss pole and secure stems to encourage upright growth and larger leaves.
  • Feeding: Feed monthly in spring and summer with a balanced houseplant fertilizer at a moderate strength.
  • Light Management: Maintain bright indirect light to help preserve variegation and balanced growth.

Why Choose White Princess Philodendron?

  • Crisp White Variegation: Clean white patterning adds a modern, high-contrast look indoors.
  • Unique Leaf Patterns: Every leaf develops its own mix of green and white.
  • Climbing Statement: Trained growth on a pole creates a fuller, more impressive display over time.
  • Collector Appeal: A standout houseplant that elevates indoor plant collections and decor.

White Princess Philodendron is a great choice when you want a plant that feels fresh, refined, and visually bold. Give it bright, indirect light, an airy mix, and steady watering after partial dry-down, and it will grow steadily and keep its best contrast. With a support to climb and consistent light, it can become a lasting focal plant with crisp variegated foliage.

Great for big chewers
My dogs have to have these. Have to. When I come home from work they each grab one and prance around like they just caught a moose or something. This past weekend my big boy doodle wanted me to toss it to him like I do his tennis ball. He kept dropping it for me to toss. It was hard explaining that it would be the worst boop he ever felt. Ok, lets talk about longevity. I've had these for over a month and they still look great. Barely looked chewed at all. These are tough and poodles supposedly have soft mouths but mine chew on these a lot. They are large. My female is 60 pounds and my Dood is 90. These chew toys keep my pets engaged when I am busy doing all the things at home so that takes some pressure off of me. I would buy them again for sure.

It's indestructible because your dog won't touch it.
It's made of hard plastic and has a weird odor. Both of my dogs just looked at it, smelled it and walked away.

Great Teething Toy for an Active Puppy
Our 6-month-old Goldendoodle has really enjoyed chewing on these rings. They’ve been especially helpful while she’s been teething, and so far she hasn’t made a dent in them, which is impressive given how much she chews. There’s clearly some sort of flavor or scent on the toy that makes it especially attractive to her, so it keeps her engaged much longer than some other chew toys we’ve tried. The rings feel durable, well made, and are a great way to keep an active puppy occupied. Highly recommend for teething puppies or dogs that are aggressive chewers.

Super hard plastic
This might be okay for big dogs but my little dogs are not interested at all. I’ve heard if you can’t make an indentation w/ your thumb nail, it’s too hard and your dog could chip or break a tooth…

My aggressive chewer had it roughed up in about 10 minutes, and she lost interest.
Both of my dogs were interested in these right away and started playing with them as soon as I gave them to them. After the first day though, they lost interest. They’ve had them for a couple of weeks now and I can’t really get them to go back to them. These aren’t squeaky toys, which is usually what they prefer, so that may be part of it. The size is decent and works for both of my dogs. My smaller dog isn’t much of an aggressive chewer, but she did chew on it some. My bigger dog is an aggressive chewer (about 85 lbs), and she had this one roughed up pretty quickly. After about 10 minutes, it already had some sharp, jagged edges. That makes me a little concerned about safety since it could scratch her mouth. As far as chew resistance and durability, it didn’t hold up the way I expected for something advertised for aggressive chewers. For value, it’s not the best considering how quickly it wore down and the lack of continued interest from my dogs.
