Echeveria ‘Esther’ is a beautiful and compact succulent variety known for its delicate pastel colors and rosette-shaped form.
🌿 Description
• Scientific Name: Echeveria ‘Esther’
• Family: Crassulaceae
• Type: Perennial, rosette-forming succulent
Appearance:
• Forms a tight, symmetrical rosette with smooth, fleshy leaves.
• Leaf color varies from light green to pinkish-lavender depending on light and temperature.
• The leaf edges often blush pink under bright light or cool conditions, giving a soft pastel look.
• Mature rosettes grow about 10–15 cm wide.
Flowers:
• Produces tall flower stalks with small bell-shaped blooms, usually orange or coral-pink, during spring or summer.
______________
🌞 Light Requirements
• Prefers bright sunlight (at least 4–6 hours per day).
• Morning sun and filtered afternoon light work best.
• Too little light will make the rosette stretch and lose its compact shape.
______________
💧 Watering
• Follow the “soak and dry” method — water thoroughly, then let the soil dry completely before watering again.
• Overwatering causes root rot, the most common issue with Echeverias.
• Reduce watering in winter when growth slows.
______________
🌱 Soil
• Needs well-draining succulent/cactus soil mix.
• You can improve drainage by mixing perlite or pumice into regular potting soil (2 parts soil : 1 part perlite).
______________
🌡️ Temperature & Humidity
• Thrives in warm, dry climates (18–28°C ideal).
• Not frost-tolerant — protect from temperatures below 5°C.
• Prefers low humidity.
______________
🌼 Propagation
• Easily propagated from leaf cuttings or offsets (pups).
• Allow cuttings to dry for a few days before planting in dry soil.
______________
⚠️ Common Problems
• Overwatering: causes mushy leaves or root rot.
• Etiolation (stretching): due to insufficient light.
______________
🌸 Care Tip
For the best color and shape, place your Echeveria ‘Esther’ where it gets plenty of bright, indirect sunlight and ensure excellent drainage. Occasional stress from sun or cool temperatures enhances the pink tones beautifully.
