Rare pothos varieties are highly sought after by plant enthusiasts due to their unique appearances, color patterns, and difficulty in finding them in stores. While pothos plants are typically known for their hardiness and ease of care, the rare varieties offer something extra for collectors, ranging from unusual leaf shapes to vibrant and striking color combinations.

  • Pothos ‘Glacier’ – Small leaves, white and green marbling with a compact growth habit.

  • Pothos ‘Emerald’ – Deep green foliage with subtle variegation; rarer than Global Green.

  • Pothos DragonTail’ – one of the pure jade green pothos that matures in stages to look like a dragons tail as it matures.

  • Pothos ‘Silver Satin’ (Scindapsus pictus) – Though technically not a true Pothos, it’s often grouped in and prized for silver variegation.

  • Pothos ‘Neon Variegated’ – A variegated version of Neon Pothos with streaks of lighter or darker green.

  • Pothos ‘Lemon Meringue’ – Rare cultivar with creamy lemon tones and irregular patterns.

Common Pothos Problems & Solutions:

  • Yellowing Leaves: This is typically a sign of overwatering, underwatering, or poor drainage. Check the soil moisture and adjust watering habits accordingly. Yellowing can also occur if the plant is exposed to direct sunlight or temperature stress.
  • Brown Tips: Brown leaf tips can be caused by low humidity, inconsistent watering, or excessive fertilizer. Increase humidity if necessary and adjust your watering schedule.
  • Leggy Growth: If your pothos becomes leggy (long vines with few leaves), it might not be getting enough light. Move the plant to a brighter spot or prune it back to encourage bushier growth.
  • Low Maintenance: Pothos are forgiving and can survive neglect for extended periods.
  • Air-Purifying: They are known for improving indoor air quality by filtering out toxins like formaldehyde, benzene, and xylene.
  • Adaptable: They can thrive in various lighting conditions and environments, making them perfect for homes, offices, and even bathrooms.

Infinite Stars, Gorgeous Book For Kids
Format: Kindle
Frostfire is a cozy whimsical book that showcases the pure imagination and creativity of a child, something that is often lost in our world of technology. Two sisters, Celeste and Miriam, go for a snowy winter walk and Miriam shares all of her knowledge about snow dragons. This topic alone will have your child buzzing with questions and theories of their own. Celeste is such a positive big sister, never minimizing her little sister’s imagination or doubting her facts of snow dragons. I really enjoyed the sisterly bond throughout this book and the patience of siblings shown. The illustrations in this book are stunningly beautiful me bring another whimsical element to the story. From the way the light hits the snow or fades in from the side of the page, to the frost layers on the greenhouse and the silvery snow bushes. Obviously there was a lot of time spent in the illustrations with great attention to detail, which really brings this book to life. I would purchase this book again and again, it would be the perfect Christmas gift for a child.

Beautiful Winter Fantasy
Format: Hardcover
I have enjoyed Elly Mackay's illustrations in other books, so when I saw that she was the author and illustrator of a new book, I had to request it from Net Galley. It's a wonderful treat made of words, art, and imagination. The story opens with two sisters, walking in a winter landscape. The older sister is telling the younger about the snow dragon, hoping to scare her a little, I think. But the younger sister is not willing to be cowed and sets off to explore. What will she find in the snowy landscape? This is a great book for snuggling or for a storytime gathering. I love winter and Elly MacKay has captured the beauty and wonder of it in Frostfire.

A must buy for the littles this winter.
Format: Kindle
Frostfire is a must buy for the littles this winter. I read through it once myself and absolutely loved the story and especially the illustrations. A very classic, winter whimsy. The second time I read Frostfire was with my 3 and 5 year olds. They also enjoyed it and had quite the debate over whether the snow dragon would be real. The 3 year old won! Looking forward to this book's release and coming across some frostfire in the real world this winter. Thanks to Penguin Random House Canada, Tundra Books and NetGalley for the eARC!

atmospheric illustrations and a story about sharing imagination
Format: Hardcover
I received this book as part of the LibraryThing EarlyReviewer program. The illustrations are photographs of collage, with some digital editing to add snow effects. It's a bit of an atmospheric "kids go for a walk in the snow" book, a la The Snowy Day, but for older kids. I liked how there was a subtle background story about children trying to navigate having slightly conflicting imaginative stories. It can be a challenge for a kid to learn how to do this when playing with others. The illustrations of the dragon especially were a wonderful surprise. My 8 year old loved the book and is happy that we get to keep it.
