Pine can look coarse, but for the two frames I purchased, the wood was oriented so that the fine grain faces forward, so it looked more refined. Cons: - Mat is a little thin - I might be missing it, but it looks like dimensions for the mat cutout are not provided in the product description. In case you are wondering what the dimensions are, I measured my mat opening to be 8.4" x 11.5" (I got the 12x16 matted to 9x12). Note that the mat is an off-white color, almost an ivory white.

As I needed 3 matching frames, I wasn’t sure what to do. I checked daily on Amazon to see if they were in stock and luckily they did come available about a week later. I ordered and received the last frame in walnut and all is good. But, it would have been nice to receive a reply from the company.
