What Makes Unesh Special

Sphinxes in magic have always had a problem. They're extremely strong, but also expensive to cast, often making them too slow. Unesh does two things. The first is solve the problem of "too slow." By reducing all your sphinxes by 2, they are now much more in line with other powerful creatures but with even stronger effects. Unesh also helps churn through your deck. Every sphinx is a mini Fact or Fiction, which gives you just so many resources to work with.

Gameplan

We are... weak early, to say the least. You're really looking to Aetherize your most aggressive opponent on turn 5-6 to make sure that you can stay healthy. Ramping early is also critical.

Once we get to a midgame, we really start to shine. Sphinxes can drop every turn. Unesh can come out. The endless bombardment of threats will overwhelm and exhaust our opponents.

The late game is where things can get crazy. With access to basically unlimited cards, especially with Unesh out, we can drop TWO sphinxes per turn with relative ease. Suddenly, we are in a position to control every player, threaten lethal on anyone without a rival flying army, and give over no profitable blocks. It takes a second to get here, but the finale is worth the riddle we need to solve.
