Planting Instructions:

Soil Preparation:

Choose a clear, sunny location that is not in the shade of other trees and receives at least 6 hours of sunlight each day. Trees establish roots better in sandy, well-drained soils rather than heavy, poorly drained soil. Remove weeds, large rocks, and litter from the planting area. Leave small weeds and dead grass, they will enrich the soil when turned under. Spade or till the soil 6-8 inches deep. Loosening the soil will help the plant establish strong roots. If the soil is heavy or clay-like, mix in some sand or compost to improve drainage. Optionally, either form rows of soil beds or hills 4-6 inches high and at least 15 feet apart. This formation of ridges will help with drainage, ensure good airflow, and make harvesting or maintenance easier.

Planting:

Starting Indoors: Seeds require cold, moist stratification to break dormancy. To stratify, roll seeds in a damp paper towel and place in a resealable bag. Place the bag in the refrigerator to keep seeds at 35F-40F at least 1 month, mimicking winter conditions. After the stratification period, seeds should be ready to germinate. To germinate seeds, place the bags in a warm 70F-90F area. After 10 days, plant the seeds in small pots with moist potting soil and in a warm, sunny location that is at least 65F, about 1 month after the last expected frost in spring. Keep the soil moist, allowing the top inch of soil to dry in between waterings.

Once the seedlings have developed a few sets of leaves and are at least 6 inches in height, harden off seedlings then transplant outdoors in the spring, in a sunny location when temperatures are consistently above 65F. To transplant seedlings, prepare a transplant hole outdoors in a sunny, permanent location. Remove the plants carefully from the pots or flats and set them in the transplant holes, burying some of the stem in the ground. Pack the soil loosely around the plant and leave a slightly sunken area around each plant to hold water. Water the plants after transplanting.

Directly Sowing: If directly sowing outdoors, plant seeds in late summer to naturally cold-stratify seeds. To plant, make holes 1 inch deep and spaced 15 feet apart down the rows of raised beds. Plant 1 seed per hole, then cover thinly with soil. Seedbeds can be covered with plastic film to promote germination. Water after planting.

Planting Depth: 1 inch
Within-Row Spacing: 15 feet
Between-Row Spacing: 15-20 feet

Care During the Season:

California Fan Palms can thrive as a majestic, low-maintenance palm with care. This tree prefers well-draining, sandy soil that mimics its natural desert environment. While they benefit from regular watering during the growing season, palms are drought-tolerant once established and prefer the soil to dry out between waterings. In summer, as the tree grows, continue watering deeply, especially during periods of heat, but ensure the soil remains well-drained to avoid root rot. You may optionally apply slow-release fertilizer to encourage healthy growth, particularly if the palm is young or showing signs of nutrient deficiency. Pruning is typically minimal but may be needed to remove any dead or yellowing fronds to keep the tree looking tidy. However, be cautious not to cut too many healthy fronds, as they provide the palm with essential energy. In autumn, reduce watering as the palm begins to slow its growth, but continue to ensure it has enough moisture during dry spells. Palm trees can benefit from the removal of any spent flowers or fruit clusters.

Harvesting:

Harvest California Palm Tree seeds in late summer to early fall, when the flower clusters have matured into reddish-brown or black fruits. To harvest, carefully cut the seed clusters from the tree once they’ve ripened. If you are harvesting seeds for planting, allow the clusters to dry out in a shaded, dry area for a few days before separating the seeds from the fruit.

I spent the $20 I saved on stuff to make this thing functional-ish
Color: White
The only reason this is getting three stars is because I do like the ability to shut off the steam and also it puts out the perfect amount of water and cleans well. For the bad, the design is terrible in four important ways as mentioned in other reviews (which I wish I had read before purchase so my fault). 1. This thing will not stand in its own unless in a very particular position and even then a slight gust of wind sends it toppling. 2. The one hook cord storage has to be the stupidest design I have ever seen. I did buy a command hook so I could wind the cord so that takes care of that issue (other than no notch to secure the plug to the cord). 3. The cord is not long enough but again I remedied this with a 6ft extension cord though I’m sure this is probably not recommended somewhere in the instructions so I take my own risk. 4. I did not like the pad included but have a ton from my old Shark steam mop (RIP) and they work well enough with this mop so it’s not completely useless. I would not recommend this mop to anyone. It is a bit cheaper than the Shark mop I was looking to replace but wish I wouldn’t have let my cheap side win and it’s spent the extra $20 to get a mop I know I like.

Quality Knives At A Bargain Price
Size: Steel King 15Pcs 10.4"×7"×15.4"
I have had these knives for almost 18 months now and they have held up great Edge retention is fantastic, and as long as you treat them right and don't leave dried tomato sauce on them for 5 days, no rust to speak of or even any discoloring! The build is fantastic and they are well balanced. I still can't believe I got this set for the price I did. I have a collection of pocket knives, I own Japanese wet stones to sharpen and understand what 8cr13mov, s30V and 14c28n is in knife production. (It's metal alloys BTW.) Having said that, I was a bit picky in finding a knife set that was quality built, had good steel and didn't cost $800. I honestly don't know how they are producing this set and not losing their shirts. Full tang design (One piece of steel from tip through the handle to the butt), and has nice glass fiber reinforced polymer handle material. I can't find any reference to this set in particular for what steel is used, but based on using various steel through the years I have a pretty good idea what this probably is. (BTW, I hate to break to you. At this price, it's absolutely NOT German steel...and that's okay anyway.) Brodark references Japanese VG10 steel with their other stand alone chef knives. It is common in the Chinese knife industry to copy an alloy alloy and call it by it's original name. It's NOT Japanese steel. What is commonly referred to as VG10 is 10cr15mov or 8cr15mov. Both are fine steel to use for a "general purpose" knife and perform similar to Japanese VG10, or even US made 440c stainless...perhaps even a little better than 440c. The steel in these knives is pretty dang hard, which makes me think it is 10cr15mov. The 10 is the Chromium content in the alloy. More chromium, more hard, more hard ='s more brittle. There is a balance of how hard without being brittle. Some knife makers use super hard steel to get a wicked sharp edge that holds for a while...buuuut then after a year of use you see all the chips along the edge or perhaps even a tip has snapped off. That's hard, brittle steel. You can't fix chips unless you grind them down and create a totally new edge on the knife and start over. These Brodark knives find a nice balance of hardness for edge retention but enough give to not chip or break off under general use. Like I said, almost 1.5 years of use and no chips, bends, or scratches. I still can't believe I paid around $50 for them. Incredible.

Wow! Amazing knives, regardless of the cost
Size: Steel King 15Pcs 10.4"×7"×15.4"
I don’t know how they do it for the price These knives are amazing, and I got them on sale for well less than a Benjamin The package with the block and the knives in it was so heavy, that I needed someone to help me get it out of the inner box. The knives are beautiful, heavy, well balanced. I can vouch, that they are sharp AF, because I cut myself twice unpacking them 😂😂😂 No fault to the manufacturer; they were very well packed. I am just a klutz First time I used them, straight out of the box with only a soapy bath before, was on a tomato and cucumber. I only have the use of one arm, and usually have to get an adaptive cutting board to secure my fruit/veges before I can start cutting them. But these knives were so heavy and so sharp, I didn’t need to do that It cut through the tomato skin like water The hardwood block looks beautiful on my countertop These are beautiful knives on their own. When you throw in how incredibly inexpensive they are… Buy them now. Highly recommended.
