The Butter Yellow Auto Quack from One Control is an Auto Wah, or envelope controlled filter, which is an effect controlled by the dynamics of your playing. Hit the strings harder and the effect is more pronounced, hit them lightly and the effect is more subtle. In this case, the effect being controlled is “Wah Wah”. Think of the BYAQ as a Wah Wah pedal that you control with your playing dynamics, rather than by teetering your foot on a treadle.  Historically, most envelope filter effects were designed for keyboards, and to cover their expanded frequency range. The One Control BYAQ is specifically adapted to the frequency range of electric guitar and electric bass and has a Mellow/Bright switch to select that range.
