Zamioculcas zamiifolia 'Zamicro' is a compact variety of the famous ZZ plant , highly prized for its dense habit and glossy, dark green foliage. Elegant and easy to care for, it retains the robustness of the species while offering a more compact silhouette, perfect for small spaces or offices.
Origin: Horticultural selection of Zamioculcas zamiifolia , a species native to East Africa, particularly Tanzania and Kenya.
Growth: Slow-growing. It forms shorter, more numerous stems than the species, with thick, glossy, deep green leaflets. Indoors, it generally reaches 40 to 60 cm in height, while maintaining a compact and symmetrical shape.
Flowers: Flowering is rare indoors. When it occurs, small cream to greenish inflorescences appear at the base of the stems, partially hidden by the foliage.
Light: Very tolerant, it adapts to bright indirect light as well as partial shade. However, good light promotes denser growth and shinier foliage. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Watering: Water only when the soil is completely dry. Highly drought-tolerant, it stores water in its tuberous roots and fleshy stems. Overwatering can cause root rot. Reduce watering when the plant enters dormancy.
Substrate: Use a well-draining succulent potting mix, enriched with pumice or perlite to ensure good aeration and prevent any stagnation of moisture.
Toxicity: Toxic if ingested by humans and animals.
